Hi, friends! I thought I would put together a list of my newborn baby must haves to share here on the blog as a reference in case you are an expecting mama! These are just our personal favorite items that we love and use with our newborns.
Newborn Baby Must Haves
Bassinet
We used this bassinet with Tatum and she slept so well in it, so we are hoping for the same with this baby. We just keep it in our bedroom for easy access with middle of the night diaper changes and feedings.
Dockatot
We looove our Dockatot. We actually misplaced the one we use for Tate during our moves, but this is one item I did not mind repurchasing because it’s the best. When baby is first born we like to keep the dockatot in the halo so baby feels snug. We also love that we can keep baby safe while laying on the bed or while traveling by letting baby lay or snooze in the Dockatot.
Carseat
We loveeeee our Maxi-Cosi carseats and ordered one for this baby as well! They are comfortable, light, and easy to use. We went with a sleek all black carseat and I love it. We are installing it this week and I can’t believe I have three carseats in my van now lol.
Stroller
We love our City Mini double stroller for traveling and walks! Ours has been through a lot and is still looking great. It is wider than I would like, so we are going to be using this Maxi-Cosi stroller and I am so excited about it! The design is beautiful and it’s easy to use, which is key. I am waiting on another piece of the stroller, but will definitely share some details on it in my stories. I am SO excited that the Lila system now is offered as a double stroller!
Diaper Bag
I have a few favorite diaper bags and also like to use my normal totes as diaper bags as well. I love this Freshly Picked backpack (and the mini version) & Fawn Design bag.
Clothing
I love keeping newborns comfy and cozy. I only bought a few gender neutral items this time until we find out if baby is a boy or girl! I love sleep dresses for middle of the night diaper changes, sleepers, white onesies (long and short sleeve), comfy sets (like this and this). I also put mittens on my babies to avoid them scratching their faces. Socks are a must too to keep their feet warm.
Swaddles + Blankets
Swaddles and blankets are so fun + come in so many colors and patterns. I love Copper Pearl (seriously so soft) and ADEN + ANAIS swaddles so much! I love these two sleep sacks for night time (here & here)
Swing
We used and loved the Mamaroo with Tatum and got it out last week to get it cleaned and set up and we were SO sad because we couldn’t get it to work anymore 🙁 I didn’t want to spend that amount again on a swing, so went with this one! We actually used the older version of it with Truman and it worked great! I like the size and the price is really great.
Feeding
I plan on breastfeeding so won’t be ordering a ton of bottles, but like to have a couple on hand just in case! I ordered this haakaa milk collector after hearing so many amazing things! It collects milk during your let down on the side you aren’t feeding on- genius! I also ordered my Medela pump through my insurance 🙂 I love these nursing covers for when I am out and about and need to feed the baby. While at home I also use this nursing pillow to comfortably nurse. This drying rack has been a product I’ve used with all three kids. I use it to dry bottles, pump parts, sippy cups, etc! Burp cloths are also a necessity!
Bath Time
All you really need is somewhere to bathe baby, soft towels (here & here), and baby wash. We love Tubby Todd or Honest!
Misc
Some other things to have ready as well would be: diaper pail, baby nail trimmer, thermometer, nosefrida, and a baby monitor!
