Tatum’s Frozen 2nd Birthday Party

Tatum’s Frozen Birthday Party

Hey friends!

Today I’m sharing some photos and details from Tatum’s 2nd birthday party. We had the best time celebrating our sweet angel girl and if you saw my stories, then you know she was in absolute heaven. She seriously had the best day and I loved watching how happy and excited she was about everything. I started planning the party about a month prior with my mama. We were on the phone one night and I was talking about her party and an hour later we basically had it planned, haha. She was so helpful (I was a little overwhelmed with work and kids and pregnancy at that moment!) and she stepped in and sent me links to things to buy and order and we were all set!

We have always loved hosting parties and events together. My mom has always taught me that you can totally do a cute themed birthday party, without having to do it “cheesy”. We stuck with the Frozen theme colors and had our invites, signs, and little food labels custom made. A balloon arch and pretty floral arrangement always is the prettiest + easiest decor, IMO. They make such a statement!! We also ordered Tatum’s cake from the amazing Sweet Tooth Fairy and it turned out SO beautiful (and it was sooo delicious. I had two huge pieces that day, haha- whoops)!

To keep kiddos entertained, we hired “Princess Anna” from a local company and she was so great! She read stories, sang songs, played games, and made balloon animals for the kids. She was a hit! We kept the party really chill with family and our closest friends and it was just perfect (We are so lucky to have so many family members close by now that we are back in Utah and it makes holidays and parties SO amazing).

We kept the food simple and made potato cheese soup for the adults!

It’s one of my favorites that my mama makes and is great for a party! I also baked up some yummy rolls and it was the perfect lunch on a snowy day. You all know my mother-in-law makes the best (and most beautiful) salads, so she whipped up one, as well! For the kiddos, we stuck with pb & j + pb & honey (one of Tate’s favs), carrot sticks + ranch, pretzel sticks, chocolate kisses, and of course cookies. They loved it + we loved the easy prep! 😉

It was such a fun day celebrating Tatum Olivia and the sweetest spirit she brings into our lives! We are so thankful for her + the amazing, sweet, kind, and beautiful girl she is! I love planning parties for my little ones + it makes it extra special when you see their sweet faces light up- makes it totally worth it. & JUST LOOK AT HER CHEESY SMILE… I die!!!

Sharing the soup recipe below! XOXO

Copycat Marie Calendars Potato Cheese Soup Recipe

8 cups peeled and cubed potatoes

2 cups peeled and chopped onions

4 cups chopped celery

2 teaspoons salt

4 cups half and half

6 tablespoons butter

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

GARNISH:

parsley (optional)

bacon

sour cream

extra cheese

chopped green onion

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Place potatoes, onions, celery, and salt in water to cover in large pot.
  2. Simmer until tender, about 15-20 mins.
  3. Puree just until chunky in blender or food processor fitted with metal blade. (I use a handheld immersion blender instead of taking potatoes out)
  4. Return soup to pot, add half and half, butter, and cheese.
  5. Stirring, simmer until piping hot. (Do not boil).
  6. Presentation- garnish as you wish!

SO GOOD and perfect for a cold winter day!!!

Recipe serves 8-10. (Double ingredients for larger parties of 16-20)

*sometimes I also add some velveeta cheese to step 4 for some added color and flavor
