What To Pack For Disneyland

I have an exciting post for my tribe today and it’s all about the happiest place on earth, Disneyland! Who doesn’t love Disneyland right? I have so many great memories there and it lights up my mama-heart to see my children experiencing the magic of it all whenever we have the chance to go.

We just got home from a fun trip there and I thought I would share what we pack for Disneyland to make sure it is an enjoyable, comfortable, fun trip for the whole family. We loved visiting around Halloween, the park is always transformed around holidays so it is so much fun to visit during those times if you can. And added bonus, the weather is slightly cooler so you don’t have to be sweating it out while waiting in line. Winning!

Key Items to Pack for Babies

Plenty of clothes.

Baby mamas, you know the feeling of being caught in public without a spare change of clothes in the event of a blowout. I know I have! Because we usually spend upwards of 12 hour days in the amusement park, I try to pack 2-3 outfits per day to cover the event of an outfit mishap. I also love to dress my kids in Disney outfits and there are so many great and inexpensive options. I’ll link our current favorites here:

Moccasins:

Do anyone else’s baby shoes love to run away like ours? I like to bring moccasins with an elastic ankle band for my babies because they don’t fall off as easily and they look cute with any outfit. We love Freshly Picked Moccasins.

Extra diapers and wipes:

I like to bring more diapers and wipes than I think I’ll need just to be prepared but here is a pro-tip: Disneyland has amazing customer service and options for parents that run out of diapers or wipes. They have baby stations located around the park with quiet nursing rooms, clean changing tables, and small shops where you can purchase spare diapers, wipes, formula, or pacifiers. So great!

Ziploc Bags:

Large Ziploc bags are a must for soiled clothing, small souvenirs, or to keep smart phones safe from wet rides.

Teething Toys with Leash:

It always helps to have a few toys for babies to play with in between rides or waiting in line. I also love to have them attached to a leash so that their toys aren’t getting germy on the ground.

Stroller fan:

This is such a life saver in warm months! Keep sleeping or awake babies cool in their strollers using a stroller fan. I guarantee at least two or three parents will come up to you and ask where they can get one, too! Haha!

Key Items to Pack for Toddlers

Extra Underwear and/or Pull Ups:

For potty trained toddlers, accidents sometimes happen at Disneyland because it can be difficult to remember to go to the bathroom when there are so many exciting things to see and do. I think it’s a good idea to keep this in mind and remind them every hour or two to use the bathroom and after that to just be prepared with spare undergarments, clothing, and pull ups if your child uses them.

Princess or Character Costumes:

These are so fun for toddlers because they can feel like one of the cast and they’re especially cute to photograph around the park if your kids are into that. They’re much less expensive if you purchase them before entering the park. Tatum loves Minnie Mouse so we’ll probably get her a dress up costume to bring next time we go!

Reusable Water Bottle:

We love these water bottles for the kids. Water is free inside the park and it’s important to stay hydrated throughout the day!

Lollipops:

We don’t usually give the kids too much candy but I like to keep a couple suckers in my diaper bag in case of a long line or a meltdown. It helps to have a little leverage sometimes. I like these ones!

Sunscreen:

So key for the whole family. Don’t forget the sunscreen! (But if you do it’s okay because they sell it in the park) but really, don’t forget it.

Glow Sticks:

Run to the dollar store and grab a pack of these before going inside because they are so much fun to have during parades and bonus: they are an extra helper when constantly trying to keep track of your toddler. We also wrap a few around our stroller handle to easily identify it at night.

Bubbles:

Another great and compact option for keeping toddlers entertained while waiting in a long line.

Key Items to Pack for Kids

Comfortable Walking Shoes:

We love these (link here) shoes for Truman because they are comfortable and go with most outfits.

Autograph Book:

I know that a lot of kids want to interact with the characters they see around the park but sometimes it can be a little intimidating, so autograph books are a really great way to give them a reason to approach the characters for a photo and an autograph and they make a wonderful memento for them to have and look back at to remember their trips to Disneyland.

Key Items to Pack for Mom and Dad

Mini First Aid Kit:

Even though Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, sometimes a family member can get a headache or an upset stomach. I like to keep a small first aid kit with band aids, Neosporin, ibuprofen, Dramamine, and tums just in case. Remember to pack children’s medications if you have little ones. Compact Blanket or Beach Towel:

This comes in handy when you need somewhere clean to sit to watch a parade, eat a snack, or something large to cover the stroller during nap time.

Wipes:

Many. Wipes.

Permanent Marker:

This one gives me a lot of peace of mind! We write our phone numbers and children’s names on their hands in permanent marker at the beginning of each day at the park so that in case they get lost, a cast member can easily contact us and reunite us. Disneyland has really great systems in place to handle lost children but it always helps to have a game plan in case that happens.
