My Top 5 Makeup Tips for Busy Moms

My Top 5 Makeup Tips for Busy Moms

Is it just me or is there something to be said for a quick shower and a 5-minute makeup routine on a busy day of momm-ing?  I am a firm believer in finding a few core products, implementing them into a morning routine, and using that to boost your confidence throughout the day and keep yourself feeling fresh and beautiful.  I think that feeling put together makes a big difference in how my day goes and my attitude throughout the day.

You don’t need to be a makeup artist or have an hour to get ready each morning to feel beautiful and confident.  I think it all comes down to a few main steps: skincare, remedying tired eyes, accentuating your best features, BROWS, and hydration.

STEP ONE: Skincare

For me, making sure that I’m taking great care of my skin is crucial for my own self confidence and helps eliminate time spent concealing and correcting each day.  In the morning, I like to cleanse, moisturize, and prime (also love this one).  A great primer can not only help your skin look better, but it will help your makeup last longer and can even add a layer of protection (aka, one of my favorite skincare ingredients, sunscreen).  This is my favorite sunscreen + I also love this one.

STEP TWO: Help Those Tired Eyes

I don’t know about you, but I don’t know many moms who aren’t a little tired.  It kind of comes with the territory when you’re trying to do it all, right? So, the next step in my makeup routine is to de-puff and conceal.  I swear by the Tula Eye Balm and use it daily.  Swiping it under my eyes helps them feel cool and hydrated and ultimately much less tired.  I also love this concealer for under the eye and on any blemishes.

(Also wanted to let ya’ll know that starting Feb, my Tula DESTINY20 code will no longer be active but you can use DESTINY15 on their site. I would definitely take advantage and stock up now! 🙂 )

STEP THREE: Accentuate

Next step?  Take two or three of your favorite features and spend your time accentuating those.

  •     If you have high cheekbones, utilize bronzer and a luminescent blush (shade warm soul) or highlighter
  •     Striking eyes?  A little eyeliner on your upper lash line and a complimentary eyeshadow color to your eyes will make them pop even more.
  •     Long lashes?  These two mascaras are my favorites (here & here. you can even use them in combination! See my whole lash blog post here)
  •     Freckles?  Ugh, so jealous!  Try a minimal coverage CC cream or light foundation to make sure those show through.
  •     Full lips?  I love this lip liner and this lip gloss, especially together.

STEP FOUR: BROWS

Your brows frame your face so don’t forget about them!  If you have the time and need the definition, I love this brow pencil for filling in sparse areas.  If you don’t have the time, my recommendation is to tint them every 3-4 weeks (I tint mine at home using this kit) and then just use a brow gel to keep them in place every morning.

STEP FIVE: Hydrate

And I don’t just mean drink your water, girl!  My favorite ways to keep my skin looking and feeling hydrated is to set my makeup with this hydrating setting mist and to utilize super hydrating lip products.  I swear by the Laneige Lip Mask (night and day, I use it all the time) and I love this Kopari lip gloss for on the go.  And by all means, get your water in too!

*Linking my fav combo for my collagen water! 1 packet of True Lemon + one packet of Vital Proteins Collagen with lots of ice in my pink cup. Perfect afternoon pick-me-up with SO many benefits.

I think that when it comes down to it, the most important thing to remember is that you are beautiful and you deserve to feel that way.  You deserve to take 5-10 minutes every morning to accentuate those cheekbones and to take care of those tired mama eyes. You spend all day taking care of those beautiful kids of yours, you deserve to be taken care of in the same way and for me, a quick makeup routine helps do the trick.
