Hi loves! I am so excited to share my experienced mom’s guide to packing your hospital bag! This will be my third time, so I kinda feel like I know exactly what I need! I’m officially full term now, so I packed my bag this past week and literally got SO giddy. I have gotten so many emails and questions about what I am packing in my hospital bag, so I wanted to share what I plan on bringing! As a third time mom, I am much more aware of what I need and don’t need. I absolutely hate to overpack and feel like I have too much “stuff” with me, so I really tried to stick to the basics and essentials. The hospital provides most of the things you need, so definitely take advantage of that! Anyway… let’s get to my hospital bag checklist!
Labor Hospital Bag Packing List
Pajamas
For clothing, I am bringing one set of button up pj’s (here). I love button up pj’s for easy access while nursing. I usually like to change into my pjs the second day to keep comfortable. I love these kind because of how soft and comfortable they are. If you haven’t tried them, sorry in advance, but you’ll be hooked!
Robe
I am bringing this robe to wear too! I love to change out of my hospital gown after showering and I always feel so much better! These are my favorite because they have great coverage and again, the fabric is incredible!
Undergarments
I packed this nursing bra (I bought it in two colors), slippers, underwear (they will provide you with the oh so famous mesh undies and those work just fine too!), and my bellefit(I have used the same one for my other two recoveries, too)! I also just grabbed a pair of cheap flip flops from Target for showering!
Going Home Outfits
I am packing a loose dress or these sweats and sandals to wear home. For baby I packed two outfits- this one and this one. I like to keep my babies cozy when traveling home and comfort is key! I also packed a pair of socks + mittens for baby. I am bringing both a beanie + headband since we don’t know gender yet! AHHHH, so excited to find out!!!
Baby Bag
In our baby bag I have a swaddle to use on the way home, two outfits for baby, 2-3 white baby onesies, socks, mittens, hat/headband, 2 burp cloths and that’s it!
Toiletries
When It comes to toiletries, I like to keep it suuuper simple. There are some items that I just can’t live without! I really don’t plan on washing my hair until I get home from the hospital, I am however bringing this dry shampoo (can’t live without it!!) to freshen up. I am of course bringing my TULA travel sized cleanser, serum, & day + night cream ( you can use the code “destiny20” for 20% off and free shipping!). I will also bring my deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, flossers, lip balm, vitamins, travel brush, pony tail holder, and nipple cream.
I will include the make-up items I plan on bringing ( I will just bring the basics like CC cream, concealer, bronzer, and a lipstick) below!
Don’t Forget
Some other items that are important to bring are:
- your license/insurance cards
- phone chargers (this 6ft cable is great!)
- camera
- carseat
Optional
We are snackers and like to bring a few to have on hand. We usually bring Luna + Cliff bars and beef jerky! You can totally bring your own pillow or nursing pillow, but I prefer not to! I really can NOT believe how soon our sweet baby will be here! I am so excited to finally be packed up and ready for him/her. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for reading, babes & I hope this is helpful for any of you soon-to-be mamas! XO
