How To Accessorize Your Outfit In Summer
If we’ve been friends for a little while, you know that I love to dress up a fairly simple look with fun accessories. Accessorizing is probably my most favorite way to try new trends, make a statement, or make the look super functional and cute. Whether it is a tee shirt and denim shorts, a simple summer dress, or an black dress date night look, accessories just upgrade everything!
In summertime, I like my accessories to be a little more fun and casual than in cooler months. And it’s so fun to experiment with trends at the time to see what you like and what suits your style the most. It’s always fun to take a hint from the season and pull from that. So in summer, I love natural fibers, bright and sunny tones, and delicate jewelry that’s well made and okay to wear in sun and water.
How To Accessorize Your Summer Outfit
Sunglasses and Hats
Oh, I could go on and on about sunnies! Definitely one of my favorite accessories, warm weather or not. I put together an awesome post about my favorite Amazon sunnies and they’re all under $30!
As far as hats go in the summer, I love to switch out wool wide brim hats or beanies with natural woven beach hats and visors. Anything that will minimize sweat and maximize sun protection is a yes in my book.
Dainty, Layered Jewelry
I am always a fan of pretty simple, meaningful jewelry. In summertime, I think it’s important to remember that your jewelry will likely experience more of the elements than other months. That may be sun, heat, salt, sand, chlorine, etc. So keeping my pieces simple and well made is important. Other than that, I love to add a pop of color in statement earrings or bangles for a night out or a beach look. Bright, summery colors like turquoise, watermelon, and fuschia are go-tos.
A fun trend to try in 2020 with dainty jewelry are anklets and toe rings! So cute with sandals or barefoot.
Summer Hair Accessories
I don’t know about you, but I love trying fun hairstyles year round but especially in the summer. Give me all the braids, up-dos, and beachy loose waves. Scrunchies are so on trend right now and I love to add unique clips and barrettes to loose waves. I think that if you’re going to add a hair accessory, don’t make it too perfect. It’s okay to layer jeweled bobby pins or for a few hairs to be left out of your ponytail. It adds to the casual, beachy effect!
