Fall Fashion Tips for Moms

Okay ladies, call me basic but I LOVE FALL! Honestly, I love the leaves, the sweaters, the pumpkin spice, the candles, I’m here for all of it.  I may even go as far as to say that fall is better as a mom,  I don’t know, is that reaching too far?  I love seeing my kids experience the beauty of the season for themselves and now that we’re living in Utah, the fall magic is real.  But to be honest, fall is no less busy than any other season.  Our schedules are packed full with school, play dates, sports, and checking items off of our Fall Bucket List (check that post out here).

The moral of the story is….

I don’t have a lot of time to plan and prepare adorable fall outfits.  But never fear, my go-to fall outfits have never done me wrong and I love them even more every single time I wear them.  In my experience, layering is key.   You never know if you’ll be sunbathing in 80 degree weather or caught in a downpour so don’t forget the layers, girl!

Once you’re nice and acclimated to whatever the day’s temps bring, adjusting your wardrobe to fit the season is easy if you break it down to colors and patterns.  Transitioning out of bright florals and white eyelets into warm plaids, stripes, and animal prints will automatically make you look fashionable and appropriate for the season.  I love to wear jewel tones and neutrals in the fall and emerald green is everything this year.  And you know what they say, denim never goes out of style.  I don’t know exactly who “they” are, but I say that and I live by it. Haha!

I’ve put together a few fall outfit ideas for moms that will keep you comfortable, warm, and fashionable for whatever your fall day may bring.  Don’t forget the diaper bag!

Netflix + Chill

I’m a homebody at heart so I love a good cozy outfit for movie night.  Stay warm with cozy leggings, a cropped hoodie, and cozy socks.

Socks: Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Socks – These would make a wonderful gift for new moms, expecting moms, or students that need warm feet while they study.

Hoodie: Forever 21 Active Hooded Knit Top – This is under $16 and super cute with high waisted leggings.

Hair Ties: Invisibobble ‘Original’ Hair Tie – These are the best for night time because they don’t leave a crease.

Leggings: Free People Fireside Leggings – Love the striped detail on these!

 Football Game

(AKA – I’m here for the snacks)

My man loves himself a football game and I love a good snack.  Don’t forget a warm jacket or coat and a hat to keep your ears warm.

Thermal Top: Out From Under Jojo Oversized Thermal Button-Front Top – This will be on repeat this year.  So cozy and I love the oversized fit (aka – room for extra snacks).

Jeans: Madewell 10-Inch High-Rise Skinny Jeans – I love a good dark wash skinny.

Hat: Treasure & Bond Felt Panama Hat

Boots: Marc Fisher Waren Combat Boot – I love the combat style and the heel on these is thick enough to be comfortable all night long.

Jacket: Forever 21 Faux Fur Puffer Jacket – This is under $50 and such a cute way to try out the faux fur trend this year.  I love the puffer style.

Pumpkin Patchin’ It

Sweater: BP. V Neck Cotton Sweater – This classic v-neck sweater is such a staple and I love the idea of wearing a bright pop of color at the pumpkin patch. So cute, especially in photos!

Jeans: Madewell 9-Inch Torn Knee Skinny Jeans – I love the distressed detail on these light wash skinny jeans.

Belt: Urban Outfitters Ecote Metal-Tipped Leather Belt – You can tuck the oversized sweater into the waistline of your jeans to show off a cute western or animal print belt.

Booties: Marc Fisher LTD ‘Yale’ Chelsea Boot – Okay, these are an amazing wardrobe staple.  The pointed toe elongates your leg, the low heel is so comfy and they look so chic.

Girl’s Night Out

Duster Cardigan:  Socialite Waffle Knit Duster Cardigan – I love this cardigan over a sweater dress because the long length keeps your legs warm and it goes with so many cute fall outfits.

Dress: Forever 21 Striped Mock Neck Dress – You can’t beat this cute striped dress for under $20.

Earrings: Madewell Vermeil Crescent Moon Stud Earrings – I love simple jewelry and these are so gorgeous and well-priced at under $40.

Booties: Steve Madden Petra Open Side Bootie – I’m obsessed with these this year.  So cute and the white print is very on trend.

Errands

High Tops: Nike Blazer Mid Vintage Sneaker – I love the vintage feel of these high tops and they are the best for a mama on the go.

Top: Madewell Stripe Knot Front Tee – I love the knot front twist on a basic striped tee.

Leggings: Zella Live In High Waist Leggings – If you don’t have these already, you need them in your life.  Seriously, they are so comfy and the high waist keeps everything tucked in.  They’re my fave.

Jacket: Levi’s Rain Jacket – I love the cut of this cute rain jacket and it comes in so many great colors for fall.  And for less than $100 for a quality wardrobe piece that will be used season after season, it’s a steal.
