4 Simple Beauty Tips For New Moms

Being new moms we are often faced with a lot of challenges. The biggest one is having limited time for yourself. We sure love those babies, but it’s so easy to lose ourselves in caring and cleaning and cooking, and everything else. Four babies later, I’m here to let you know that being a new mom does not mean you have to neglect yourself. Yes, your priorities have changed and that’s okay! But you can’t pour from an empty cup, caring for yourself is so important… especially now that you’re a mom. Carving out just a few minutes each day to take care of yourself can really make a difference. Here are a few of my secrets so your new transition will feel just a little better:

4 Simple Beauty Tips For New Moms

Keep It Simple

Timesavers come in handy on those mornings when I’ve had little sleep and still have a full day ahead of me. I have been absolutely loving my Ilia Skin Tint lately thanks to its supernatural finish and buildable coverage. SPF is vital as we age and I wear it religiously. It protects your face from those harsh UV rays. I also love to use long-lasting cheek and lip tints so that I don’t have to touch up as much throughout the day and my makeup still looks natural and dewy. Add a quick coat of mascara and brow gel and you’re set!  Natural and beautiful.

Let’s Talk About Hair

For me, my hair takes the longest. I love when it looks pretty. I also feel better when I get ready. There’s something about getting out of your pajamas, putting on makeup, and doing your hair that makes you feel a little human when you’re stuck in “mombie” mode. Keeping your hair care simple can make a world of difference. If you are not wanting to opt for a shorter or simpler haircut, my go-to’s are dry shampoo and a good deep conditioner. Hair tools that are user-friendly can also make for a quick morning. My tip is to spend two(ish) nights per week to wash and dry your hair, and even curl it if you have time, and then prolong that style for as long as possible using dry shampoo, updos, and hats.  This has been such a time saver for me!

Keep A Routine

Maintaining a skincare routine, especially at night, can help with the winding down process. It helps your brain switch into bed mode (even though the night ahead of you may be long). Having clean, fresh, skin before bed is a long-term strategy for gorgeous skin. You know I love my TULA products. They have a lot of really great, clean products. Bonus- Dthompsy at checkout gets you a discount. A routine goes for the morning as well.

Naptime Equals Mom Time

We have all heard that time-old saying “sleep when the baby sleeps” but let’s be realistic- that never happens. I use that time to either get a quick workout in or even better- shower! There is nothing quite like taking a hot shower and really getting to wash your hair. Shampoo and conditioner really has a way of making you feel human again.

Being a mom is hard work already, keeping your beauty routines and guilty beauty pleasures are still a priority! When I feel like I look good, sometimes it also makes me feel like I’m a better mom. Self-care is so important to your mental health as well as the maintenance of your skin for the years to come.
