How is it that Thanksgiving is this week?!
I have been crazy busy packing and gearing up for the big move and to be honest, I had been getting a bit stressed. SO much to do, but yet SO much to be thankful for. Therefore, I decided to take a breath and just go with the flow of what is to come this weekend! I am extremely excited to get this weekend move over with and am really looking forward to next week to settle into our new home and enjoy some family time focusing on what is most important. Growing up, I would always look forward to my mom’s cooking on Thanksgiving and getting together with loved ones and family. We have a tradition when after the food is blessed, we go around the table one at a time, and share what we are most grateful for in the past year. We are such an overly expressive family so we tend to go on and on, haha. Everyone’s lists are looong and a lot of emotion is expressed. We seal it all with a toast of sparkling cider and lots of laughter. And good eats, of course.
I want the exact same thing for my babies.
I pray they will always cherish the traditions I will make sure we keep, the memories made, and also that it is second nature for them to be THANKFUL. That they will always look for the blessings in life, instead of dwelling on the harder times. I am so very grateful for parents who instilled this in me. We alternate every holiday between my family and with my in-laws, and this year, we will be spending Thanksgiving with my in-laws. They are amazing and I love them so much and have loved incorporating their fun traditions, as well! They are fabulous cooks and I am definitely looking forward to lots of servings of all the yumminess. I mentioned in my blog post earlier this week here, that I always make a green bean casserole, so if you need a good recipe, definitely try that one out. You won’t be disappointed!
Holiday Outfit
Aside from all of the family time, fun traditions, and great food I look forward to, I love planning out a cute and comfortable holiday outfit! Cute, comfortable, and casual can still be chic and put together! For me, plaid speaks fall/winter and these classic plaid shirts are PERFECT and incredibly affordable. They are so soft and have a flowy look and feel to them. (Honestly, I know that a lot of times, plaid gets a bad wrap for being super casual, mostly to wear with some leggings and as lounge wear, BUT I promise, they can be chic’d up, with the right pairings!) I purchased one of each color, they are that good! Also, I opted for the “Grey Bark” color and this higher waisted black jean (THE perfect cut and stretch and only $70) for Turkey Day. We are keeping it pretty casual this Thanksgiving, so I am going to keep it simple with a low platform wedge shoe that I know will be one of my top fav shoes of the season. They are SO comfortable and stylish! They come in 3 colors, I opted for the patent leather. I am really excited to style them with pants, skirts, and even dresses for a different look from the typical boot or bootie.
Casual Look
Now, like I said, this Thanksgiving we are keeping it pretty casual, and yes I love casual, but I like to spice and vamp it up a bit with a bolder lip. I am wearing this lipstick in the color sin and for some reason, it always speaks holiday to me, haha. I’m not sure how freeeezing the weather will be on Thanksgiving here in Utah, but I can choose to wear a cozy cardigan overtop, if it’s chillier indoors. I will link some of my favs below! This outfit can also be worn with your favorite bootie, tall boot, or totally be dressed up with a classic pump. So there you have it. My little bit of input for a great casual, comfy, comfortable, yet chic, Thanksgiving Day outfit! I hope y’all have a great week and are looking forward to cherished moments with loved ones in the coming week. I am so grateful you stopped by! XO
Love this post! and of course your traditions 😉
