Romantic Stay At Home Date Ideas

Being stuck at home doesn’t mean you can’t still have date night with your partner!  I’ll be the first to admit, the COVID-19 quarantine has put a bit of a damper on our love life.  We loved our weekly dates with one another to a favorite restaurant and a movie or being able to double date with some of our best friends.  It’s a bummer for sure!

But I do I believe whole heartedly that dating your spouse/partner is so important to maintain a healthy, loving relationship.  Being able to spend a little quality time with my best friend and husband, Sid, definitely tops my favorite things to do in my free time.  He’s my favorite person so I really feel like we can have fun together doing most things (most).  Haha!

I thought it would be helpful to put together a little list of fun, at-home date night ideas that you and your person can use to spice things up a bit and break up a pretty monotonous few months.  If you try one of them, make sure to tag me so that I can see which date night idea is the favorite in your household!  I think Sid for sure will vote for “Video Games + Chill” first!

At Home Spa Night

Okay, this may be number one because it’s one of my favorite date night ideas and one I can easily take the reins on.  Set up an at home spa night for you and your boo.  Dim the lights, light candles, play soothing spa music and bring out the goodies!  A few things you can incorporate into your couples spa menu:

  •     Take turns giving each other massages.  I love this body oil.
  •     Face masks.  This is a fun one but I promise, your guy will love the results.  Linking a few of my favorite face masks here, here, & here! (my Tula code is DTHOMPSY)
  •     At home pedicures.  Maybe avoid the sharp tools, though!  But it’s a good excuse to make sure your man is keeping up on his foot hygiene.  Ha-ha!
  • Take a bath together.  For a little added spice!  I love lush bath bombs and they make some really fun romantic options. This is my favorite bubble bath!

Star Gazing and S’mores

If you’ve got an outdoor patio or yard, grab a blanket and head outdoors for a night of stargazing.  If not, take a drive to somewhere where you can see as many stars as possible.  There’s something about star gazing that just makes your problems seem small, don’t you think?  If you have a firepit or know of one, bring s’mores supplies and if not, no worries! Use your at home fireplace or microwave.

Sushi or Pasta Making

I love this idea because I love sushi and pasta and I miss them so much!  Checkout videos on YouTube beforehand and make sure that you have all the supplies.  Spend the evening learning a culinary art together and then enjoy what you’ve created!

This sushi-making kit looks so bomb!  And what an awesome wedding or Mother’s Day gift for a foodie in your family.

TikTok Night

Ok, some of you may already be having regular TikTok nights with your partner but if you haven’t already, this is worth a try!  There are so many fun couple challenges to try and I guarantee you’ll both be laughing all night long.

Video Games + Chill

I’m sure we’ve all had our fill of Netflix by now but how about a Video Games and Chill night?  Sid is probably so proud of me right now for recommending this, lol!  Pull out your fave gaming system and 2-player games and go to town.  Nothing wrong with a little healthy competition, right?  And don’t forget the snacks!

Dress Up and Dine In (Takeout)

Are you missing getting dressed up and going out?  ME TOO.  Replace what would be an epic night out by ordering take out from your favorite nice restaurant, lighting candles, and getting all dolled up together.  It may seem silly but having your boo see you looking cleaned up after weeks of sweats is super refreshing, for both of you!

Put A Puzzle Together

Puzzle and snacks?  Sign me up.  Puzzles are challenging and are great opportunities for deep conversations and connections.  Of course, gotta have some snacks in the mix as well.  I found out about these custom photo puzzles and I think these would make such an awesome Mother’s or Father’s day gift.

Make A French Dessert Together

Back to the culinary goodies.  Something about being home just makes me hungry, haha!  I’ve always thought it would be so cool to be able to bake something delicious and impressive and if your hubby is anything like mine, a sweet tooth helps.  Work together to find a recipe that looks appealing to both of you, put on your aprons, and make it happen!  When the dessert is finished, enjoying it together is guaranteed to be romantic and wonderful.

Outdoor Movie Night

I think I’ve said this already, but we’re sure missing the movie theater!  If you have a yard, or even if you don’t and your neighborhood has an open space for it, how cool would it be to set up an outdoor movie theater?  Like your own little at-home drive in.  You can even social distance and double date, if you’re comfortable with it!

And you know I had to say it, don’t forget the movie theater treats!  Popcorn, candy, soda… go all out and make it as authentic to your movie theater dates as possible.

I’m feeling especially hungry and craving extra time with the hubs after writing this!  Don’t forget to tag me if you and yours make any of these ideas happen! I’d love to see which one you choose.
