Our Morning Routine

Hi, loves! Today I wanted to share a little about our typical morning routine. Lately, I have gotten a lot of questions about how I feel motivated to workout in the mornings, where the kids go, when I get ready for the day, etc, so I thought I would share what we do + what works for our little family at the moment.

Our Morning Routine

I wake up about 30 mins before the kids every day. This gives me time to brush my teeth + hair, change into my workout clothes, and kind of pull my self together before the kids wake up! I don’t apply make-up first thing in the morning but will add my tinted sunscreen and chapstick to my face before leaving the house.

I usually get Truman up before Tatum and will get him dressed, brush his teeth and do his hair. Next, I’ll set him up for breakfast. My kids usually like waffles, protein pancakes, oatmeal, or eggs, so I whip up something quick for them both and let Truman start eating. I go grab Tatum next and get her cleaned up and ready for the day and then sit her next to Truman. I love this time of the day because they are both so happy + they love eating breakfast together! While they eat breakfast, I make Truman’s lunch for school on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I will also take this time to eat a quick bowl of oatmeal or cereal. I fill up my water bottle and make sure my bag is all set and ready to go.

We keep coats and backpacks in them + shoes go in their drawers underneath. I love having this little area + set-up and think it has been so great for my kids to learn to do a few things for themselves (like put on shoes or hang up their things where they go). Next, we load up into the car and get going. Like I mentioned above, Truman goes to pre-school Mon/Wed/Fri so we either drop him off or head to the gym.

Both of my kiddos go with me to the gym and they love it. It was important for me to find somewhere with a good child care option since my husband travels so often. It has become a little routine for us and it’s funny because on the days that we miss the gym, I can tell our schedule is a little off. Obviously, when we have a newborn, some things will have to change, but in this season of life we are loving our routine.

After the gym, we head home and Tatum goes down for a nap.

If Truman is home, I will make him lunch and set him up with an activity. I usually also eat right when I get home and will take advantage of Tatum’s nap to shower and get ready for the day. I can usually do this pretty quick and then will hop on my computer and catch up on some work/emails. Once she’s awake, I feed her lunch and we do an activity or head to the playroom to play. I will try to get a little bit of work done (write blog posts, answer emails or comments on IG, plan content, etc) but most days this usually gets put off until the kiddos are in bed at the end of the night 😉

I find that our kids do SO well with sticking to their schedules. We all love our mornings over here and I definitely feel my best when we stick to our morning routine. As far as the gym and working out goes, I am just listening to my body and doing what feels good + sounds fun. Like I’ve mentioned before, I have enjoyed High Fitness classes the most during this pregnancy. I also love my Peloton and usually do a class at home on Friday and Saturday.

Running doesn’t feel great anymore, so I walk on incline a lot, too!

I will occasionally do some light weights, but keeping it light and fun has kept me motivated this pregnancy. I’ve also been active/worked out most of my life, so working out keeps me feeling like myself, which is important to me! It puts me in a good mood + I know I am keeping my body healthy for both baby & I 🙂

Anyways, I hope this answers your questions! I’ve been seeing a lot come in about having a nanny or where the kids go when I workout, and they are always with me. I don’t have a nanny, but being on a schedule is how we are able to make things work around here! I hope this helps some of you and motivates you to follow a routine that works best for YOU!       My husband usually takes my photos! I will sometimes use a photographer for blog photos or family photos since my husband trave;s a lot for work 🙂
