Yay! I’m doing a little happy dance because this is one of my most asked questions on Instagram and for some reason I have really struggled to post it. I think that’s mostly because I don’t think my cleaning schedule is anything extraordinary? But nevertheless, I wanted to share it for those of you who have asked.
Both my husband and I love a clean, organized home. I’ve found that with three kids under the age of 6, each of us working, and a laundry list (pun intended) of other responsibilities, finding time to spend 4-6 hours cleaning in one go every week is nearly impossible. So the way that I like to clean is by breaking up the weekly chores into tasks that I can complete each day of the week in less than an hour. This works really well for our family because I never feel too overwhelmed and our house is nice and clean by the weekend!
My Cleaning Schedule and A Free Printable
Daily Tasks
Every day, I like to make sure I do a list of tasks that keep our home tidy. If I miss a day, things can tend to get a little out of control. Overall, doing these takes about an hour/day. Less if I have help!
- Fill and Run Dishwasher
- Vacuum/Sweep kitchen and main living areas
- Wipe counters, the high chair, and dining table
- Take out the trash and recycling
- Pick up laundry
- Make beds
- Pick up clutter and put away
- Clean one bathroom in our house
Weekly Tasks
On weekdays, I take 30-45 minutes to do one deep cleaning chore. They’re the same every week so that the most important tasks are done on a regular schedule. Things that don’t need to be done weekly are scheduled monthly or seasonally.
- Monday
- Clean bed sheets
- Tuesday
- Dust and vacuum bedrooms
- Wednesday
- Clean right wing of the house:
- Clean and organize lockers
- Put away shoes
- Vacuum and mop mudroom and laundry room
- Dust those areas
- Clean right wing of the house:
- Thursday
- Clean Basement

- Clean basement kitchen
- Tidy up toys
- Clean Basement
- Friday
- Clean Living Room and Kitchen

- Vacuum/Sweep/Mop
- Vacuum Sofa
- Clean Stove and Fridge

Monthly Tasks
Cleaning projects that are less frequent and sometimes more time intensive can be scheduled monthly. I usually just put them on a reoccuring basis into my calendar and sometimes plan them for Saturday mornings when the family is asleep. This is a great place to place for tasks that are specific to your home and family. Maybe your deck needs to be regularly cleaned, your bathtubs scrubbed, etc.
- Deep clean fridge
- Deep clean oven
- Dust baseboards
- Clean windows and window sills
That’s it! That’s how we keep our home clean!
