Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Last month I had the amazing opportunity to visit the MacKenzie-Childs headquarters in Aurora, New York with my sweet mama. We are both HUGE MacKenzie-Childs fans (so many of you sent me messages so excited for us to be there because ya’ll know how much we love the brand) & it was so amazing getting to know more about the history of the brand + the history of Aurora, as well. I have to say that taking this trip and getting to see the headquarters, made us love the brand even more!
The first day…
We got in, we enjoyed a nice little dinner in our beautiful room (we stayed at the Rowland House & YOU GUYS…it’s seriously so dreamy!) + did a facial mask (our love for skincare + serveware runs deep, haha!) Each room in the Rowland house has a theme and ours was a beautiful yellow room. It was decorated perfectly and each detail of our stay there was exquisite. I loved waking up early the next day and walking down the street past the cutest homes and buildings in Aurora to the gym. The town is so charming and you can tell the love and pride for MacKenzie-Childs runs deep there.
Later that day, everyone met for a fun floral class hosted by Fig & Twigs! I am not the greatest at putting arrangements together. Although I have to say, I was pretty impressed with my mama’s floral skills. Oh, and everything looks prettier in this gorgeous pitcher ( I think it saved my arrangement, ha)! Honestly I am the most laid back person when it comes to that kind of thing. I just own that it’s not my specialty, but I truly think that’s what makes it more enjoyable. I am always up for a challenge! That night we ate at Fargo Bar & Grill for dinner & it was delish. I loved learning about the history that MacKenzie-Childs and Fargo have, too. It is such an enchanting story!
Day two…
The next morning we had an early wake up call and headed to the factory. This is where I became even more obsessed with MacKenzie-Childs than I already was. Seeing how much detail and work goes into every single piece & talking with the employees there that hand craft and paint each piece, made me fall even more in love with the brand + grow an even bigger appreciation for each special MacKenzie-Childs piece that I own. Over the last couple of years, I have had so much fun adding pieces of MacKenzie-Childs to my home and have also loved gifting my mom & mother-in-law some pieces, as well. Each piece is truly a work of art & I love that my mom and I were able to share this experience of learning all about the brand.
While we were there, we were fortunate to take a tour of the Farmhouse.
It was so fun to see! The home is decorated with all kinds of unique and one of a kind prints + pieces of MacKenzie-Childs. I immediately fell in love with that cute pink tub in the bathroom! To die for!
We also were able to paint our very own pieces to gift our moms for Mother’s Day. I really aimed high and tried the Courtly Check pattern. Also I have to say I was a sweaty, nervous mess after, haha. I’m no artist, but it’s probably a piece only a mother can love and appreciate 😉 I know first hand, as I’m already a crazy mommy who keeps every single thing Truman makes for me at preschool. Like mama, like daughter…haha!
I love that MacKenzie-Childs pieces can be styled so many different ways.
We spent an afternoon learning about the different ways to style MacKenzie-Childs and it was so enlightening and inspiring. I love that there’s really no wrong way to do it! You can mix and match your dishes or serveware. Go all out or simply add little touches. For me, I like to add hints of the Courtly Check throughout my home. I like the statement it can make in a crisp white, clean kitchen. But, I also do love bringing out my beautiful Morning Glory set in the spring time! Remember this post I did with my mom last year?
MacKenzie- Childs pieces are truly sentimental to me. They represent so much to me. My mom has always had a way of making things beautiful. Being the oldest, I was her left hand woman. I loved watching her set up for Christmas breakfast or plan our Easter brunch. Everything always had so much thought and love put into it and that is something I want to do for my little family. I love the memories we are making + will continue to make with our family for years to come with these pretty timeless pieces!
As I am sure you all know after following me for awhile, I look up to and adore my mom SO much.
I have always been her biggest fan. She is the strongest person I know and is the most incredible mother & grandmother. She has a gift of making each of us feel so loved and special- and I know that my siblings and I all think the world of her. I could go on and on about how amazing she is and how much I treasure her, but words can truly not describe how much I love her.
This trip was so, so special to me.
This was the first trip since before I had children that we were able to take, just her & I, and that seriously was SO special to me to have that one on one time with her. She has always put her children first and sacrificed so much, so it was fun to be able to treat her in some way. I am thankful for the close relationship and bond that we have and will always treasure this trip I got to take with her! Motherhood for us is about love and the bonds and the special moments and traditions, both new and old, that create these magical moments.
I can’t thank Mackenzie Childs enough for this amazing opportunity and am so happy to share this wonderful time with all of you! Xo
