Eyelash Extensions Care

Why Eyelash Extensions Care Is So Important

Let’s talk eyelash extensions!

I think I get a handful of questions about my lashes every single day so I thought I would do a little write up here about my lashes. I go to Amber at Blush Lash Studio in Utah (if you are in Vegas, I recommend Chic Sin City– those are the only two places I can give a good recommendation for). Also, I get volume lashes and go in for a fill every 3-4 weeks. I don’t know my exact lengths or curl, and just let my lash artist do her thing. She knows what looks best on my eye shape and I always leave happy! It’s important to find a style that flatters your eye shape. In my opinion, the quick appointment every so often to get them filled is well worth how easy they make getting ready as a busy mama to two littles.

I often get asked about them being high maintenance and I really don’t think they are- it’s takes me literally 10 minutes to get ready most days and I love not having to wash off heavy mascara every night. The most important thing with lash extensions is taking good care of them! (If I ever take a break from them, I use this routine I shared to get my lashes longer quick- my lash artist in Houston was not great & I will not share their info and left me with damaged lashes which is why I feel like I can properly share more on here now!)

Avoid Water For 24 Hours

It’s important to avoid water or getting your lashes wet for about 24 hours. I try and go in with no make-up on, but sometimes that doesn’t happen. Honestly, I just make it work and will for sure not wear eye make-up for my appointment. I was my face carefully + gently. Also, I sometimes use a make-up remover like this one with a cotton pad to get my make-up off and then wash with my normal TULA cleanser.

Don’t Pick

DO NOT pick your lashes! Not only will they look like you need a fill faster, but it’s not good or healthy for your lashes.

Keep Your Lashes Clean

Personally I do not wear mascara on my lashes + believe that if you go to a good lash artist who uses quality products, you won’t have to. I mean… that’s the point of lash extensions, right?! I do still use eye make-up like eyeshadows and on my last week before I need a fill, I will occasionally use liquid eyeliner too. Honestly, I just make sure to wash my make-up off thoroughly and keep my lashes clean. I often get asked how I was it off and I really don’t do anything special but am ALWAYS gentle! Cleaning your lashes keeps them nice longer.

Use A Sleep Mask

I use this sleep mask and love it! I actually don’t have to use it while pregnant, but I am a stomach sleeper when I don’t have a huge belly so this sleep mask keeps my lashes in tact.

Your Lash Artist is Everything

This is essential! Finding a good lash artist is THE most important part. If you’ve heard lash extension horror stories, it’s probably because the artist wasn’t great. My girl keeps my natural lashes healthy and does a fabulous job of making sure my lashes look and feel great. They should never itch or feel like they’re tugging or pulling. If you are not near either of the places I shared above, I recommend finding a Borboleta artist (here) in your area- this is not sponsored but their products and artists are just the best!
