10 Useful Easter Basket Ideas For Kids
Raise your hand if you really don’t like buying cheap toys that you know are going to break in the first few minutes? Me. Now that we’ve got three littles and one on the way, I have pretty much had it with anything that isn’t going to last. I don’t need extra pieces and parts to pick up all the time, you feel me?!
Easter is one of those holidays where I feel like it can be really easy to fill their baskets with things that are specific to the holiday and therefore sort of unusable after. And lots, and lots of candy. Now, Sid would be upset if we didn’t include the candy but I really like to shop for easter basket fillers that will be useful to us and our kids as we move through spring and summer.
I’ve compiled a list of ten unique spring and summer items you can include in your children’s easter baskets this year that will be sure to excite them but also be products you’ll likely be buying anyway in the next few months. It’s a win/win!
Rain Boots and Umbrellas
We get all the seasons here in Utah, and lots of rain in the spring! If you have rain where you live, it is such a fun and cute idea to include a pair of rainboots and an umbrella in their basket to keep them dry this year. I’ve seen a few people decide to fill the boots or open the umbrellas and fill them with the rest of their easter goodies which I think is such a cute idea as well!
Swimsuits and Sandals
I know that this is a popular one, especially where I grew up in Las Vegas, but such a cute and fun idea! This year I’m loving all the bright colors and fun prints, there are so many cute ones with fruit and food patterns that I’m totally dying over. I also recommend sizing ½ size up in kid’s sandals because it doesn’t hurt to have sandals be a little big and you’ll likely be using them for the next 6 months.
Insulated Cups or Sippys
Who doesn’t love a brand new cup? I know that I do! So take this opportunity to throw out your kiddos’ old, used and abused straw or sippy cups and throw up some new, bright ones for them to use in the warmer months.
Swim Goggles and Beach Toys
A must if you live near of plan on visiting the pool and beach soon! I’m talking goggles, mermaid fins, sand toys, diving rings, pool floaties, sunglasses. All of it. We’ve got a handful of water babies in our home and this is our favorite activity in the summer (we’re so excited to put a pool in our yard soon!) and so these items will be must-haves in my kids’ easter baskets this spring.
Bubble Bath or Bath Bombs
Goodbye to the days of boring bathtime! There are so many fun bathtime items that would make the bubbliest of surprises for an Easter basket this year. Tatum is a spa-lover just like her mama so she will love some cute unicorn or doughnut bath bombs, I’ll be grabbing Goose a toy or two, and a waterproof bluetooth speaker for Tru so he can listen to his favorite music or kid’s podcast while he showers.
Giftcards
I think giftcards get a bad rep and are looked down upon but I actually love this idea for kid’s gift baskets! Think of how adult you’d feel to have your very own gift card to spend at a young age? They LOVE it! Grab them 1-2 gift cards to their favorite places, even if it’s your local gas station so that they can choose treats of their choice, their favorite ice cream stop, or the game store, I promise they will just love these.
Sports Gear
With spring comes spring training! We’re so excited about soccer and lacrosse season starting and so I figured an easter basket would be a great way to throw in a few items that the kids may need for sports. A new ball, special gloves with their names on them, brightly colored socks, you name it. There are so many things they need and it makes it nice if they have a few fun options.
Hair Accessories
And maybe a few for mom, too! Haha. We love to accessorize our hair in this house and so Easter makes for the perfect time to stock up on pretty pastel and floral hair bows and clips for miss Tatum. Butterfly clips are trending right now so how cute and on-theme to add a few to your daughters basket?! I love this.
Natives
Okay, these needed their own category because they are seriously one of my all-time favorite shoe choices in the spring and summer for kids. They are waterproof, easy for the kids to put on and off all by themselves, and come in so many cute colors! They seriously look cute with just about everything. I get a pair for each kid every year and I just love them.
Pajamas
We always need new jammies so I’ll be ordering light weight, pastel and tie dye sets for the kids to sleep soundly in.
