These jeans are, hands down, my favorite maternity jeans ever.  You may have noticed that they are pretty much all I wear when I want to wear denim these days.  I love how super comfortable they are and I actually love the low rise stretchy waistband as an alternative to a full panel.  These jeans are must-haves because they are rock-able through all three trimesters, and definitely post-partum.  The lack of a full panel means they won’t sag or look like an additional layer of fabric during the early months or when your belly is small.  They come in many different washes so if you love them, you can grab them in black, white, and grey.  Love!  And you know Good American, always flattering the booty which I so appreciate!  The best part?  They are a size inclusive brand and have an incredible size selection.

I love checking out Old Navy for classic, affordable pieces and these maternity jeans are no exception.  They are the perfect medium wash with distressed details, which is so versatile and cute. The full panel will give you a little additional support and the super skinny leg is flattering on all body types.

Maternity Jeans Pitfalls To Avoid

When you’re shopping for maternity jeans, no matter which pair(s) you choose, here are a few tips for things to avoid in any pair.

• They’re not comfortable. Just say no, no matter how cute they may be.  Adding another layer of discomfort on top of likely being a little uncomfortable already is just a no-go.  You’ll likely get little to no wear out of those jeans, girl.
• The fit is too loose. I say this with a disclaimer: Rock what YOU love!  If you feel good in it, then wear it all day long girl.  In my experience, loose legged maternity denim can do a pregnant mama a disservice because it makes your legs look wider.
• The saggy bum. Oh man, why do they do this to us ladies?!  There’s something about maternity denim that just does not do our booty any favors.  Make sure to pay attention to the fit and the pocket detail to make sure they aren’t too small or unflattering.

Five Ways to Style Maternity Jeans

Chic and Put Together

I love to pair a sleek skinny pair (dark wash or black) with an oversized sweater or cardigan and loafers.  This look is highly comfortable but also appropriate for dinner out or meetings.  Add a pair of cute sunnies and you will look chic as can be, mama!

Cute and Fun

If you have an Easter occasion or spring brunch, this look is super cute and wearable.  I paired a bright peplum style blouse with a cute frilly detail with a pair of light wash, distressed maternity jeans.  Pop on a pair of platform wedges like these Marc Fischer ones if you want to take a walk on the wild side, or an equally trendy pointed pair of flat slides would pull the whole look together.

Casual and Boho

If you’re headed somewhere low key but you still want to look cute and put together, this look is my go-to.  I paired these medium – light wash skinny maternity jeans with a graphic rocker tee and a knit duster cardigan.  Layers are always key while pregnant, am I right? And these buckle detail boots topped the whole look off and are SUPER comfy thanks to the low heel.

Summer Soiree

Pair a distressed medium wash pair of jeans with a tunic style top with flirty details.  Eyelet, lace, beads, whatever you like!  I added a cute fedora over a chunky braid and flatform sandels to accessorize.  Ladies, this look hits my only two goals while pregnant: comfortable and cute.  The tunic gives you temperature control because it’s light and airy and the hat will disguise day four hair!  Win win!

Date Night

It’s always nice to get a little dolled up when you may not have been feeling so great.  Cue the white jeans!  I love a crisp, skinny pair of white jeans with a cute neutral sweater over top.  I chose pointed to nude booties to compliment the sweater and accessorized with some glam earrings. Honestly, I think this look is so pretty and perfect for a night out!
