5 Simple Spring Updates For Your Home
This may not seem like a big deal to most, but oh my gosh… I love that the trees outside our home are blossoming! Spring is such a breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively. I love when the weather begins to warm and we get to spend more time outside. We have some fun plans this summer, including enjoying the last trimester of our little rainbow baby! It just makes me SO happy.
You guys know that I really love to clean and decorate our home. I got it from my mama 🙂 She is seriously like Martha Strewart when it comes to all things home making and as I get older, I cherish and look up to her example so much. Her home is always so warm, welcoming, and beautiful. I hope that mine can make our guests feel the same way.
There are a few things that I love to do within our home to make it feel a little more like spring (in addition to spring cleaning):
Fresh Flowers
It’s such a simple pleasure but fresh flowers make such a difference in how much I enjoy our home in the spring. Depending on what’s available in our area, I love to grab a bundle or two when we grocery shop and create my own little arrangements using vases and pots that we have around our home. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Hydrangeas
- Tulips
- Orchids
- Peace Lillies
A Simple Wreath
I love a simple, fresh wreath in the spring and summer to reflect how beautiful it looks outside. There are so many unique ways to update your wreath for spring but I recommend keeping the style of wreath consistent with the exterior style of your home. Our home is traditional/modern so I love big green leafy wreaths like magnolias and I also love lemon wreaths for a fun pop of color.
Fresh Hand Soap and Candles
Spring and summer scents are for sure some of my favorites. I love to keep things light and citrusy with our household scents. Anything lemon is a go-to scent in the spring – it is the perfect little refresh. I’d recommend sticking with natural scents you may smell outside like cherry blossoms, fresh linens, lemon and orange, hibiscus, lavender, etc.
Clean Up Countertops
This tip goes along with spring cleaning but I think it makes a world of difference to take a second look at all of our countertops and open shelving to just assess if there’s anything I can remove and/or re-arrange. After a winter full of holiday decor, I love for things just to be a little more bare in the spring.
New Pillow Inserts
Something about kids and dogs jumping all over your pillows and cushions can just really make them look kind of dowdy! I think spring is a great time to replace worn and sad inserts with new ones. It makes such a difference to have them looking full and fluffy again! These inserts are some of my favorites! I have them in every room.
