Heavenly Father blessed us with the sweetest treasure, to love & hold & keep forever.
We adore our beautiful angel, sent to us straight from Heaven. She has brought such a sweet spirit into our home and filled our hearts with an even greater love and happiness as a family of four! A couple of Sundays ago my amazing husband gave our sweet Tatum the sweetest blessing! I will forever remember and cherish his words and hopes and prayers for our little girl. I’m grateful for a wonderful husband who leads our family and provides the best example- Him blessing our babies will always be some of my favorite memories. One thing that especially stood out that I loved that he said a couple of times was that he hopes Tatum will always have a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father and that she will always know that He LOVES her! Isn’t it crazy to think that He loves our children even more than we do?! I too pray that Tatum will always know her worth, that she will always know her parents love her SO much, that she will have her own personal testimony of our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, and follow Him, & that she knows and loves her Father in Heaven and live her life in a way that is pleasing to Him.
It was an incredibly special day that we were able to share with both sets of our parents and with some of our close friends! We had a little luncheon at our home afterwards in honor of this special day, so that’s what some of these photos are from 🙂 My childhood friend (who is AMAZINGLY talented) Whitney Perdue hand painted this gorgeous banner for the blessing. I based everything else off of that and went with the theme “Our Sweetest Blessing”. I kept it simple with white and glass serving bowls (most found at HomeGoods or TJ! I love looking for serveware at both.) I didn’t want to go crazy with decor, so I just used lots of pretty flowers to add the perfect pops of color and spring vibes. I loved how it turned out! I will try and link as much as I can below:
My mornings with my sweet babies. Truman joins me & Tatum for a few extra minutes of cuddles and he just chats and chats and caresses his sisters head (and then demands cereal, waffles, or “peamut butter toast”). He really does love her!
The way Tatum just nuzzles my neck while being burped after she’s eaten. She has the sweetest, softest little breaths and her body completely relaxes. I know she feels so safe and loved.
How ready I am for daddy to come home from work each day. I absolutely love my days with my babies, but I definitely don’t mind the help when he comes home – there’s only so many hours of the day I can play ninjas and dinos, haha! 😉
When Tate is in her Mamaroo while I’m busy picking up the house or cooking & she starts fussing a bit- Truman will run riiiight over and give her her binky & say, “it’s otayyy babyyy”. Melts my heart.
The way Tatum just stares at me when I talk! She just lovessss when I talk to her and she’s starting to coo and smile.. it’s the cutest!
Watching General Conference with my little family. I always dreamed about what it would be like to watch with my own family.. crazy that this time in my life is finally here! It was just the best. Nothing better than cuddling babies in pj’s allll day + hearing spiritually uplifting and filling messages.
Our sweetest Valentine, Tatum Olivia Thompson, was born on February 14, 2017 at 9:11 am, weighing 6lbs 11oz & 18 3/4 inches long. I’ve been dying to find the time to write her birth story before all of the thoughts, feelings, and memories are not as fresh, & I am finally finding a second while adjusting to busy life as a mommy of two!
On Monday, February 13th, I was checked into the hospital at 9 pm to Read More

You guys.. I’m 37 weeks pregnant! Finally…the final stretch! Not that I’m counting down or anything… Truman was born at 38 weeks so I could really have a baby ANY day now (although I wouldn’t mind her cooking for a bit longer- there’s something so special about growing a HUMAN!) Up until this last month of pregnancy, I was able to stay very active and that was Read More
The holidays are here, which means holiday parties are, as well! Today I’m sharing a super easy and fun holiday punch recipe my family has used for years! I love a good sherbet punch and this one is a no fail, easy crowd pleaser. Follow the simple recipe + steps below & let me know if you try it!
1 48-ounce bottle cranberry juice
2 46-ounce cans pineapple juice
Lemon, orange, or pineapple sherbet
Mix juices thoroughly. Pour into individual glasses and add a scoop of sherbet. Serve immediately. To make into a punch, add 1 quart lemon-lime soda to every gallon of shrub. I served my punch in a sugar rimmed glass for that extra added touch! Cheers and enjoy!
If you’re a parent, you know that date nights don’t always happen every weekend. As much as I’d love to get dressed up in my new Jimmy Choos (if you saw on snapchat, I just couldn’t resist them at Nordstrom last week!!) + this hot (maternity 😉 dress for a night on the town with my man every Friday night, most weekends are filled with family fun nights (which we love just as much)! I know Truman looks forward to having daddy home just as much as I do for the Read More
Sid and Tru share the most special bond and it makes me extremely happy watching my boys playing and carrying on together. You guys… I seriously melt at these pictures! I love how simple they are, yet they mean everything to me because it catches their daily fun times that I want to cherish forever. Truman absolutely adores his daddy! He talks about him all day long and Read More
“Anyone Can Be A Father But It Takes A Real Man To Be A Dad”
Hi friends! Today I want to share something very personal and close to my heart. Some of you may have heard this story before, but I want to share this story with you because I think it will help paint the picture of my family dynamic a little better and because it a huge reason why I am the person I am today. I also want to share about how hard situations are almost always the biggest blessings in disguise.
When I was very young, my parents divorced. My mom later remarried my step-dad, whom I call “dad”, as he has been the one to raise me. I remember being extremely upset and devastated that I basically lost my real dad through the divorce. I mean divorce is never easy, but especially when kids are in the mix. With the help of loving parents and many heartfelt pleas to my Heavenly Father, I learned that instead of focusing on constant disappointments and heartbreaks I often felt, I opened my heart to my stepdad. I couldn’t have been blessed with a better dad or support system in him. He showed me true selfless love and pushed me to chase my dreams. Never once has he not treated me like one of his own. I once thought of the divorce as a trial, but I’ve now come to see it as a blessing. I was blessed with the most amazing angel dad in the world and I’m thankful for him each and every day. I used to pray that my real dad would give me the love and support I yearned for, but soon learned that I was being blessed each and every day by a father who loved me fully and unconditionally. This was a lesson to me- to turn to the Lord in my trials and let Him take care of me. And he did. And in the process, I learned to make the most of hard situations, seek the blessings, and simply just love. I often get asked if my real dad is still in my life and it’s complicated. We still don’t have the relationship I use to yearn for, but I will always have an open heart to him, no matter what. I feel so thankful for my dad and the love and example he has given me. Because of him I know what a dad and husband should be and I was able to find someone that reminds me of him. I’m thankful for my sweet husband. I couldn’t ask for a more amazing or loving dad to our Tru baby! I am thankful for the trials and heartbreak I once felt because now I know just how lucky and blessed I am to be surrounded by some amazing men. So, Happy Father’s Day to my sweet dad + husband & all the other amazing dads out there! I love you both and my life has been changed for the better because of you both! xoxo
